Claude Bishop was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was raised in San Rafael California, and graduated from San Rafael High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance and accounting from the University of California at Berkeley in 1972. Claude began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Haskins and Sells, which is now Deloitte, LLP. He left Haskins and Sells to become a partner with John R. Dunlap in Marin County in 1974. Claude became the sole owner of Dunlap & Bishop Accountancy Corporation in 1988. He sold his practice in 2000 to concentrate on developing a comprehensive financial services practice.

The office of Claude J. Bishop, C.P.A., Inc. is currently located at 3950 Civic Center Drive, Suite 300, San Rafael, California. Claude shares office space with the law firm of Thompson Welch Soroko & Gilbert LLP. Claude is a licensed California general life insurance agent, a licensed California real estate salesperson, and a mortgage loan originator.

In 2005, after the year 2000 sale of his practice, clients requested his services again and therefore, Claude now operates a full service income tax practice with an emphasis in estate and gift tax, estate & trust administration, partnership, and individual taxation.

Claude has been a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California State Society of Certified Public Accountants since 1975. He is a member and past president of the Marin County Estate Planning Council. He is a past president of The Rotary Club of Central Marin, and a past president of the North Bay Chapter of the Society of California Accountants. Claude has participated in many professional panel discussions and has taught courses for the California CPA Society and the Society of California Accountants. He has lectured for several professional organizations on a variety of technical subject matters.

Claude’s hobbies include hiking, computers, and a few miscellaneous collections. He has two adult children, Chris and Jen. Claude and his wife, Peggie Learning, live in San Rafael.
